Warning! Do your parents want to buy you a new Ford next year?

Wow! Some of us are looking forward to driving and maybe even getting a car- Watch out if your parents suggest they buy you a new Ford! Starting in 20010, Ford is coming out with MyKey, which should actually be called MomAndDad’sKey, since it allows your parents to control your speed, radio volume, and seatbelt use. If your seatbelt is not clicked, the radio will turn off. Your parents can also program a chime that sounds at 45, 55, and 65 miles per hour. MyKey will also report how many miles were driven. And you thought parental controls on the Web, TV, and gaming were all you had to worry about! Sue Cischke, Ford's group vice president for sustainability, environment and safety, says that MyKey "unlocks a new world of possibilities." She’s got that right. And that’s not even counting the GPS systems your parents can install so they know where you are driving, and the video systems to see how you are driving and who’s in the car, and whether you’re using your cell while driving. I totally understand that parents should be concerned when we get behind the wheel, but I also kind of feel that this is a bit too “Big Brother” for me. What do you think?
